Barcelona – Girona Gravel Gentlemen’s Ride (14 January 2018, to be confirmed)
For the second year in a row CycloCat are organising a gravel ride. This time, instead of touring Valles, we ride from Barcelona to Girona!
Do you dare to break the 100 km barrier riding from the Catalan capital to the capital of Catalan cycling? Our beautiful route takes us on bike paths, river ways and country gravel roads.
The starting point will be somewhere in Barcelona close to a train station.
The ride will end at the Eat Sleep Cycle shop in Girona where we will
re-group and enjoy a coffee or two. The finish is close to Girona Train
Station so you can go back (if needed) to Barcelona comfortably on the train (you can go back by bike as well, some are going to…)
The Barcelona – Girona course uses routes from CycloCat safe cycling net.
From the start to the first feeding area there is one official route with no variations. From the first to the second feeding point there are three options recommended by CycloCat. Each team must choose the best route for them according to their strength, energy and skill level. From the second feeding point to the end there is one official route.
All routes will be published in advance and are available now on the
On Saturday, before the BCN-GRN, there will be a briefing at Bed&Bike hostel, where we will explain all the details about the ride and answer any questions.
Registration is not open yet. Follow us on our Facebook profile (CycloCat) or send an e-mail at email@example.com if you want to get a reminder when the registration is available.
What is the Gentlemen’s Ride formula?
You must enter as part of a team of 2 to 6 riders. Each team has a
different starting time (usually at 1 minute intervals). The members of the team must complete the ride together and help each other. You can also cooperate with other teams.
The route is not signed and there are no traffic controls (although this is
no problem because we are going to cycle on CycloCat roads which are safe, very safe). Riders navigate with a route provided by the organization – at least one of the members must have a GPS device.
Riders are semi self-sufficient. There are no official feeding areas but two collaborating restaurants will fill our water bottles.
On saturday before the event there will be a briefing at Bed&Bike Hostel in Barcelona.
The first feeding area is in Sant Antoni de Vilamajor, in Aira.
From there, there is a free navigation part and you can choose between different courses to reach the second feeding point. You can find course ideas in this article article.
The second feeding point will be in Vidreres, in Can Castells.
We have the support from local bike brand Unîca.
We will add more information as soon as we get it. Keep up with the latest news on our CycloCat facebook page.
